Aliances for climate and sanitary emergency in the Aburrá Valley, Colombia

Updated: Jul 23, 2022

Progress Update concerning activities carried out within the framework of the project selected by the Programme for Cooperation on Global Justice by the Barcelona Mayor office, in its 2021 call.

The aim of the project is to promote dialogue between social and institutional actors, leading to a participatory model of governance in urban-rural basins. This model will be implemented through the co-design of resilient eco-infrastructures appropriate for the climate and health emergency, which are at the same time instruments for the appropriation and recovery of degraded urban space. To meet this aim, the UNESCO Chair in Sustainability at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the University Institutions, ITM and Tecnológico de Antioquia, set up a Technical Secretariat to manage the project and have invited Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), Área Metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá, Corporación Autónoma Regional del Centro de Antioquia – CORANTIOQUIA, Secretaría de Medio Ambiente de Medellín and Cuenca Verde Corporation to build-up an Inter-institutional Board.
