Cities around the world are exposed to significant interconnected challenges such as urbanization, population growth, climate change, and the depletion of natural resources. Water is a central component of these present and future challenges, and it is essential for sustainable urban development.
An increasing number of cities are facing challenges in managing their water resources and services due to water scarcity and increased demand for water. Furthermore, the increasing frequency and magnitude of climate-induced water hazards, such as floods and droughts, is threatening urban livelihoods, populations, infrastructure and ecosystems.
In this context of change, the Circular Economy Action Plan and the Green Deal represent a turning point in the European Union. But without any doubt, the Covid-19 pandemic has made us reflect around the world about the necessary changes in many of the processes that we are carrying out in our urban societies.
The conference will be attended by one of the best world experts in nature-based solutions (NBS), researcher Carlos Arias, from the Univ. Of Aarhus in Denmark, who will show us the Danish urban-rural Water Management model .
From Catalonia, Sergi Martí, president of AQUA ESPAÑA will talk to us about the challenges of the water transition in Industry, and Silvia González, coordinator of the Gray and rainwater Commission from AQUA ESPAÑA will give us a vision of the current state of use of these new water sources, gray water and rainwater.
Finally, Jordi Morató, director of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainability, will give us a Catalan perspective on the circularization of public water operators.
We wait for you !
