As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the FLACAM NETWORK creation, the UNESCO Chair - UNITWIN Network for Sustainable Development (FLACAM) organizes in Montevideo (Uruguay) the "South-South Congress, Our Own Solutions", from the 4th to December 6, 2019, focused on Sustainability - Resilience and Common Good.
Created in 1989 and designated FLACAM UNESCO Chair - Unitwin Network for Sustainable Development in 1995, FLACAM has been continuously operating for 30 years. With more than 20 Member Institutions, between Incorporated and Adherent, in almost all Latin America and Spain, it focuses its activities on the training of human resources at the postgraduate level and on the formulation and management of projects aimed at sustainable development. The UNESCO Chair on Sustainability is one of the Member Institutions of the Flacam Network.
In 2017, an intense offer of short virtual courses in areas such as sustainable tourism, landscape, environmental architecture, social housing and urban inclusion, environmental projects, sustainable city, and sustainability policies, have been incorporated into its already recognized postgraduate training offer that has been dictating for more than 20 years and with Latin American reach; training each year, between both activities, more than 400 professionals / students from the most diverse disciplines and from more than 15 countries.
The South-South Congress that takes the name of “Our Own Solutions” is promoted, to present and discuss presentations and concrete projects that have been launched (and / or in the process of implementation) with a view to reflect theoretically-conceptually and methodologically in the proper and appropriate solutions that the South-South scenario requires, thus strengthening its path towards sustainability.
