Terrasa, Barcelona, March 22 2019
Improved water resources management and access to safe water and sanitation, are some of the most important points that UNESCO presents in the report.
The publication also points the leading role of the nations of the world in giving continuity to the policies and commitments assumed within the framework of the 2030 Agenda. Therefore, the joint work that leads to efficient access to water will allow the eradication of poverty and the construction of prosperous and peaceful societies.
In this sense, the UNESCO Chair on Sustainability at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, works through social and technological innovation. "Since its creation in 1996, the Chair has contributed to rethink the traditional model for water management in issues such as efficient management and governance. Specifically, we have designed the AQUARISC project in Latin America and we are part of the Terrasa Water Observatory, "says Jordi Morató, general coordinator of the Chair.
In short, the action on a global scale in #WorldWaterDay, identifies the achievements reached by the international community related to the benefits of being in a world without poverty and full of rights for the water access. However, UNESCO points to the need to take concrete actions on a global scale due to climate change.
