XVIII International Congress on Integral Waste Management


From September 12 to 14, 2018, the XVIII International Congress on Integral Waste Management and Environmental Perspectives will be held in Barranquilla, Colombia, with the participation of PhD candidate Darwin Hernández Sepúlveda, from the Technological University of Pereira, who made a 6-month research stage in the UNESCO Chair on Sustainability this year.


Darwin Hernández Sepúlveda has been working in the Terrassa office of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainability from November 2017 to May 2018 in the line of proposing technical, economic, social, legal and institutional arrangements in the processes of generation, management at the source, use and final disposal of Ordinary Solid Urban Wastes from Residential Origin (RSUOR) of the municipality of Pereira, which promote the minimization of environmental impacts associated with its current management, under the principles of Zero Waste, as a reference for its application in intermediate cities of Colombia.
